Shawn Levy will direct the new film after his ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
After Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (2007), a new face is all set to portray the flaming skull-headed motorcyclist hero as the character makes his MCU debut.
At SDCC ’26, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that a new Ghost Rider film is in development. It is scheduled to hit theaters in 2028.
When at Marvel’s Hall H Panel, Kevin even introduced Ryan Gosling to play Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, the crowd cheered.

Ryan addressed the crowd, “…this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time.” He also welcomed Shawn to the stage as the one director who could bring the character to the screen. The two are working together on an upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, which is scheduled for May 28, 2027.
Shawn remarked that he and Ryan spent time on set discussing and talking about Ghost Rider, and how in the end, he was like, “Bro, let’s ride.”
