Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum recently announced Zodiac at New York Comic Con. This series could be the long-awaited sequel to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a bridge between the series and the mainline MCU.

The live-action spy thriller is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2028.

The logo is clearly visible with a couple of clues, given the two obvious logos before your eyes. One is the well-known, familiar S.H.I.E.L.D. logo, and the other references the Great Wheel, a secret organization from Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Warriors, a major S.H.I.E.L.D. story from the comics.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, albeit S.H.I.E.L.D. was terminated, the TV show continued it anyway — though the films never acknowledged what happened in the show, and we saw a resurrected Agent Phil Coulson take charge of the reinitiated S.H.I.E.L.D. And finally, by the end of the show’s run, they’d become more of a cosmic team.

These clues themselves are keeping the AoS fans excited and calling this an official sequel to the show. Everyone is excited to see AoS fans are super-excited for Zodiac; it seems to see their favorite AoS stars, Clark Gregg and Chloe Benett, return as Agent Phil Coulson and Daisy Johnson, aka Quake.

Clark Gregg added fuel to the speculation by sharing the Zodiac image with the single word: “Cool.” That “Cool” was something very hard to ignore for the AoS fans, as that was Coulson’s final line from the AoS finale.

Currently, Marvel is tight-lipped about the show, and hasn’t confirmed it as an AoS sequel. Some also suggest that it could be on the criminal Zodiac organization, a different Marvel concept, from the Avengers #72 (1969).

Recent moves—such as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil leading Daredevil: Born Again and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in The Punisher: One Last Kill—reveal that Marvel is ready to infuse the television legacy into the main MCU.

AoS deserves similar recognition, with the show executing time travel, alternate realities, and espionage with more brilliance than few later MCU projects. Fans are excitedly hoping to see Phil Coulson, Daisy Johnson, along with the rest of the team, soon infused with the main MCU for one final time.

Right now, the logo is the only beacon of hope; let’s wait and see what more the MCU will reveal.
