Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne is not the DCU’s Bruce Wayne
The DCU Chapter One is progressing as planned, but the Batman is yet to make his appearance. Yeah, he did appear in the animated Creature Commandos series on HBO Max, but in live-action, nada!
Many felt Matt Reeves’ The Batman would be added to James Gunn’s DCU; unfortunately for them, that balloon of hope was busted before it took much of a flight. DCU is looking to cast a new actor for The Brave and the Bold.

But now we have an update. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has teased that now the wait for the new Batman won’t be long. The next actor doesn’t need to be a movie star, the Superman director said, adding that he wants to choose the best person for the job. James Gunn on The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? The Official Podcast teased that the DCU’s Batman will be cast soon.
James Gunn: “I mean, it won’t be too long before we cast Batman — who isn’t cast yet, by the way, for all the people thinking he’s going to show up in this or that. It’s all bulls—t. But when we do cast the DCU Batman, which isn’t very far away — if I gave somebody a day role in Suicide Squad, that is going to be the best Batman. I’m not going to rule him out from that. I want to get everybody into account. You know, one of the things that excites me about casting Batman is being able to pick a Batman who’s actually the best actor for that role. Supermans have always been chosen based on who the best actor for that role is. And for some reason, Batmans are always chosen as movie stars. [I definitely have to rule in age]. They’re going to be doing this 10 years from now. People are always looking for little hints about casting of Batman. Roughly, Batman and Superman are around the same age. I don’t think that they’re drastically different ages. They’re future best pals.”
Just like names made into rumor columns until David Corenswet was cast as Superman/Clark Kent, and as names are being made into rumor columns for Wonder Woman, names being called out for the Caped Crusader are no exception.
Other than this, any doubts about the canonicity of The Suicide Squad are cleared in the official podcast The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon?. In the podcast, James revealed that it was up to Margot Robbie on wanting to continue playing as Harley Quinn or not. Anyway, that requires a whole new article, and that will be published here later.
