Matt Fraction and Scott Snyder team up for two unique takes on the Caped Crusader
Yup, you got that right: tomorrow, September 19, 2026, on Batman Day, DC is exclusively releasing Batman of Two Worlds #1, an enticing take on the Dark Knight unlike any.
This Batman Day special will bring two brand-new Batman stories, bringing together the main Dark Knight and his Absolute Universe’s version of the Caped Crusader in a single issue.

Matt Fraction and Javi Fernández’s story with colors by Tomeu Morey and letters by Clayton Cowles will focus on the wealthy Bruce Wayne of the Earth 0 or Prime Earth. In contrast, Scott Snyder and Nick Derington’s story with colors by Frank Martin and letters by Tom Napolitano will feature the Bruce Wayne of the Absolute Universe.
“You have two different looks at Batman,” said Matt Fraction. “The moral structures, the ethical structures, the political structures. A chance to put them side by side and see the similarities and differences.”
“This is just such a unique moment,” added Scott Snyder. “The mission was to show what’s special about each interpretation. The two stories are both about Batman’s form of justice.”
The issue features a cover by Jorge Jiménez, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin, bringing both of Gotham Protectors together.
This isn’t the crossover fans would’ve hoped for, but it will intrigue them to compare, figure out, and enjoy the distinctiveness of both interpretations as they take on a similar case in their worlds. Both will be investigating the same mystery/crime, but in their own universes and in their own ways.
Batman of Two Worlds #1 will be available at stores on Batman Day 2026.
