F1 star Damon Idris to join the MCU

Chadwick Boseman starred as T’Challa, aka Black Panther, in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). And later, Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, took on the mantle in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), setting up the MCU stage for T’Challa’s son as Wakanda’s next ruler.

But after Chadwick’s death, Marvel Studios and Ryan Coogler decided to honor his iconic portrayal of T’Challa by not recasting the role. However, a rumor has been circulating for some time that Marvel is open to recasting T’Challa, potentially paving the way for a reset after Avengers: Secret Wars.

It is believed that Damon Idris, the F1 star, will appear possibly in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, before he appears in Black Panther 3. No one is sure if Damson will play T’Challa from an alternate version from across the vast multiverse or an all-grown-up ass version of T’Challa’s son. Moreover, neither Damson nor Marvel has confirmed the role.

But as a response to the rumors, Damon said: I am thankful to the fans. Of course, it’s rumors, but I love the movie. I love that world. I’m glad that everyone’s seeing the future of that too, cause its moving in a brilliant direction. And I’m excited for the third [Black Panther].

Interestingly, some concept art allegedly for Avengers: Doomsday featuring an actor who looked more or less like Damson as Black Panther circulated online last year.

Well then, there’s the new Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer with Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm, aka The Thing of Fantastic Four, greeted by Winston Duke’s M’Baku and Letitia Wright’s Shuri in her Black Panther costume.

Avengers: Doomsday is gonna serve heroes from different realities.
