It was never the healing factor as revealed in Deadpool vs. Black Panther #1

For decades, Deadpool’s healing factor made him the Marvel hero who could survive anything, and compared it with Logan’s healing factor. But in Deadpool vs. Black Panther #1, it was stated that the cancer cells take the place of his formerly healthy cells; the more damage Deadpool takes, the more of his body is overrun by cancer. And T’Challa dubs it as a dying factor; he has the opposite of the healing factor — the dying factor.

But now, Wade Wilson is gonna take on a new codename…

Rise of Undeadpool!

Yeah, it seems Wade’s mortality catches up with him, and he takes on a new codename, Undeadpool.

Marvel released details for its upcoming Age of Revelation event. The event isn’t an alternate timeline or dimension, but Marvel’s future 10 years ahead. Here, Doug Ramsey’s Revelation has conquered the planet, and by using his hypnotic voice, he’s trying to build a paradise for mutants at humanity’s expense.

The event has 16 tie-in comics, including Wade’s Undeadpool.

The synopsis of Undeadpool #1 reads:

THE MERC WITH THE MUTATED MOUTH…HUNGERS! X YEARS LATER, and the virus ravaging the REVELATION TERRITORIES has finally made WADE WILSON into what he always wanted to be – a mutant! But not like this – NOT LIKE THIS! Deadpool’s healing factor is on overdrive, his mind a passenger in a body that hungers…and cannot be sated, unless he devours the life force of mutants! His next targets are the new blood known as FEARLESS, MAGNI, KID MAN-THING, and FANTASTICA. It’s Deadpool like you’ve never seen him!

Even X-Men: Age of Revelations #0, which came out on July 16, 2025, hasn’t revealed much about Deadpool, except for a sketch in his zombie form. The only news about Wade is that, in Marvel’s future, Wade becomes some kinda zombie!

X-Men: Age of Revelation #0 is available at the stores, but the event officially begins in October 2025 with Age of Revelation: Overture #1.
