The Titans have begun to stir!

The MonsterVerse is a titanic phenomenon in the US Box Office, and with the success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, it just manifested its hold. Its success has paved the way for a new flick, and the star of the upcoming flick, Kaitlyn Dever, has confirmed that the upcoming Godzilla x Kong sequel has started production, to 7 News Australia on the Red Carpet of The Last of Us, almost 2 months back.

When asked whether the project is the Godzilla sequel, Kaitlyn confirmed it by responding, “It would be. It would be, yes. I feel like I can say that now that this is… But yeah, that’s what I’m doing up there.”

MonsterVerse has so far grossed around $2.5bn worldwide at the box office, with GxK being the eighth highest-grossing film of the year. Adam Wingard, who directed the last two entries, had teased his interest in another film based on the two characters, turning it into a trilogy. But scheduling conflicts had other programs, and Adam left the project.

One of the only confirmed things is the much-awaited title and date. The sixth sequel, which is ought to release on March 26, 2027 is Godzilla x Kong: Supernova

Now, Grant Sputore, director of I Am Mother, has joined as the new director along with David Callaham who co-wrote the screenplays for Zombieland: Double Tap (2019), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), Mortal Kombat (2021), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2027), and who wrote the story for the first film of the MonsterVerse, Godzilla (2014), will write the story and the script for the new sequel too. Dan Stevens is set to reprise his role as Trapper. Legacy hasn’t confirmed the whole cast, the plot of the new sequel; all are under wraps.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ended with Kong ruling over the Hollow Earth after fighting alongside Godzilla against Scar King. It’s not sure what new menace the two will fight now!

The untitled GxK Sequel will premiere on Mar. 26, 2027.
