The canonicity of Dragon Ball Z movies is always up for debate

As the subheading says, Dragon Ball Z movies are always ready for discussion. Some fit with the timeline, while some are understandably hard. On Dec 14, 2018, rebooting Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan and bringing Broly into the Dragon Ball lore via Dragon Ball Super: Broly, was a great success with some tweaks, and years back the creator Akira Toriyama revealed Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might storyline was Goku’s dream on his way to Namek.

Now, the next favorite everyone would love to see is the brother of Frieza, one of the most dangerous and brutal characters in the whole DB lore—Cooler.

Directed by Mitsuo Hashimoto and written by Takao Koyama, Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge was released on July 20, 1991. Being Frieza’s older brother, Cooler also possessed a menacing aura that excited the fans. But with the reintroduction of Frieza, everyone is waiting eagerly to see the arrival of Cooler. (At least a tease of his presence would be a big thing.)

Possibilities:

Well, now suppose Cooler is brought into the DB lore, we can make a story like:

Cooler coz of his slight difference from his brother, Frieza, and their father King Cold, his war with can be explained as a mutation and him being far away during his brother’s death & return. Maybe he wasn’t fond of his family and didn’t wanna share, but was still evil. His mutation can be explained as a reason for his birth on some other planet with strange rotation/climate or under some purple or any other color.

I think this plot can make their ancestor Chilled from Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock and the entire episode canonized just like it did with Dragon Ball Minus. And in short, rebooting the entire Super Saiyan lore. But that can be thought of later and let’s not stray off the path.

And those who have seen Frieza know that Frieza will be reluctant to share his throne with anyone, not even his father King Cold now that he has acquired forms equal to or slightly stronger than the Saiyans.  

It would be interesting to see the return of Cooler, or/and a clash of the brothers. The mutation and the evolution all together can make the DB lore a lot more intriguing.

Just hear me out, I just got this weird idea, what if…

…it plays out as a tale like DC’s Elseworlds or Marvel’s What If…?

Suppose Cooler is Frost’s brother and look at this possibility as a Universe 6 story. Now, that would be enticing and Kefla’s powers can be exploited to new heights that can challenge Goku’s Ultra Instinct in a more explosive Tournament of Power than before, and the Saiyans in Universe 6 are good-hearted compared to their Universe 7’s counterparts. Cooler can be used to build depth to Universe 6 and its Saiyans’ stories.

Both the pitches are good, but I love connecting it with Frost. This could add more to the lore of Dragon Ball.
