After Ben’s Batman, Robert’s Caped Crusader will be DCU’s Dark Knight as per the speculations of Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman
With Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice, everyone saw Ben Affleck’s Batman become a part of the Snyderverse. Unfortunately, the flames of Snyderverse were snuffed out with Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom as the last one. Now, with James Gunn and Peter Safran rebooting the DCU once again, things take a new turn for Batman.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman ought to become the rebooted DCU’s Dark Knight as per most of the fans, but that would call forth a surplus amount of compromise on Matt Revees’ and James Gunn’s parts.

Some weekends back, on 5th Jan, on the Golden Globes Red Carpet, The Batman director Matt Reeves in an interview with Josh Horowitz said, “Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, it really comes down to whether or not it makes sense.” Reeves continued, “What’s been great is there was a story that I wanted to tell that we’re calling The Epic Crime Saga which is the thrust of what we wanted to do. It’s been important to me to be able to play that out. James and Peter have been really, really great about that and they’re letting us do that.”
“What the future brings, I can’t really tell you,” Reeves added. “I have no idea right now except that my head is down now about getting The Batman Part II shooting and to make it something special which is, of course, the most important thing.”
Asked whether Pattinson’s Dark Knight will join Gunn’s DCU, perplexed Reeves just retaliated, “I don’t know. We’ll have to see where that goes.”
So, until James, Matt, or Peter deny it, everyone will wish that they will see Robert’s Batman answering to the DCU’s Bat symbol.
The Batman 2 is hitting big screens on October 1, 2027.
