Dark Knight raises the challenge!

In Feb, DC Comics’ co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman into the DCU. But Robert Pattinson would continue playing Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, labeled The Batman Epic Crime Saga’s Batman.

Now, after postponing it, the movie’s date is said to be October 1, 2027.  But what does this mean for The Brave and the Bold if the CEOs’ statement were to be considered!?

The Batman Epic Crime Saga universe is to be treated as DC Elseworlds, along with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Taking the situation, James has a perplexing situation regarding two actors playing Batman across two different universes.

So, it won’t be surprising after James had admitted, “Batman’s my biggest issue in all of DC right now.” While talking about the kind of Batman he wants. He has a fully planned lookout for the Batman, to keep it true to the comic personality of the character. James is currently working with a name-not-revealed writer to get the right Batman for The Brave and the Bold.

“Batman has to have a reason for existing, right? So, Batman can’t just be ‘Oh, we’re making a Batman movie because Batman’s the biggest character in all of Warner Bros.,’ which he is. But because there’s a need for him in the DCU, and a need that he’s not exactly the same as Matt’s Batman.

“But yet he’s not a campy Batman. I’m not interested in that. I’m not interested in a funny, campy Batman, really. So, we’re dealing with that. I think I have a way in, by the way. I think I really know what it’s — I just am dealing with the writer to make sure that we can make it a reality.”

James seems to be making sure he delivers the Batman he requires. Fans recently got a glimpse of the Dark Knight in the Creature Commandos episode 6: Priyatel Skelet. And this glimpse gave a thorough indication that Batman is an already existing character in James’ DCU.

James has revealed that, at some point in the DCU, Batman and Superman will have to team up. If he’s to be quoted:

“This is the DCU Batman. Listen, I gotta tell you, I just love Batman. I love him. I’ve loved him since I was a little kid. He’s one of my favorite characters. I’ve gone on the record in the past when I was at Marvel, saying my favorite character is Batman. I love him, and we’re going to do great things with him. He’s the most popular superhero in the world, and I can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman, and together.”

And the Batman will have most of the Bat-family in the movie, so the search is on for a suitable actor to play the role. In Snyderverse, Ben Affleck did an amazing role both as Bruce Wayne and Batman. Many actors have played the dual roles, but some were good as Batman or as Bruce Wayne, but Ben was perfect as both, so far. Let’s see who will be the Batman for Gunn’s DCU!?
