Overcoming the Kryptonite curse in a DBZ way unleashes the most powerful Kryptonian

Superman—The Last Son of Krypton—The Big Blue Boy Scout—Man of Steel—Son of Krypton—Son of Jor-el, has accomplished amazing feats, saved the planet, galaxy, and whatnot! But it looks like his son Jon Kent outdid his ol’ man soon, and that too in a DBZ manner.

Yeah, you read it right! Jonathan Samuel Kent is gonna do something that no Kryptonians, including his dad and aunt, could do—become invulnerable to the glowing green rock—Kryptonite.

This will shake the status quo, reshaping the power hierarchy in DCU.

Recently, with Voice Film, DC Comics’ group editor, Paul Kaminski, shared some exciting details about Dan Slott, Rafael Albuquerque, and Marcelo Maiolo’s project: Superman Unlimited, regarding Superman’s son, Jon Kent.

This training sequel was inspired by Dragon Ball Z!

Yeah, Dragon…Dragon…Dragon Ball Z!

Paul revealed that Jon’s journey to overcome the Kryptonian vulnerability resembles Gohan’s training in the mountains from DBZ. Paul told how the hero will have immense training to overcome the Kryptonite vulnerability. Paul, a big fan of Dragon Ball, and now using its influence in his work in building Jon’s character, is something amazing!

Paul stated, “…sometimes I have these like, they are less of story markers for people but more importantly, like images to follow through on, and one of the images I have on my head is Jon training on a mountain like Gohan to overcome Kryptonite and doing so somehow.”

Considering the similarity, Jon Kent, a half-Kryptonian, and Gohan, a half-Saiyan, this training session pumps the juice to get the fans further excited.

Jon overcoming this Kryptonian vulnerability will make him the strongest Kryptonian in the DCU.

Superman Unlimited hit the stores on May 21, 2025.
