Batman & Superman going Saiyans in Variant Cover

Some time back, DC paid homage to Dragon Ball at the start of ’26 during DC K.O.: Knightfall. Later, there were instances where we witnessed similar acts in Absolute Universe with Batman, Superman, and even Dick Grayson in Robin gear going Super Saiyan-esque. Well, once again DC is paying homage in the upcoming Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #57 variant cover one more time.

The cover created by the artist Mario “Fox” Foccillo shows Batman and Superman embracing the exaggerated physique and energy of Dragon Ball’s Saiyan warriors. The World’s Finest duo are shown working out extensively, an unmistakable nod to Goku and Vegeta’s training.

In the foreground, we see Batman bench-pressing enormous weights shaped like his iconic bat emblem, Bat Barbells, as Superman performs cable chest flies while reportedly lifting an astonishing 200 quintillion pounds behind him. The ridiculous weights and the character features mirror Saiyan aggressiveness.

The cover image seems to draw inspiration from Super Saiyan 2, for its increased muscle mass. Mario applied the visual flavor while retaining their symbols and costumes.

Mario had imagined solo versions of Superman, Batman, and Nightwing charging up their ki like the Saiyan warriors. Other artworks had depicted the Flash and Green Lantern as Z Fighters, with their own colorful auras.

Anyway, the Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #57 features Ra’s al Ghul unleashing the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse—Poison Ivy, Tokamak, Ocean Master, and Queen Bee—against Earth.

Albeit the DC/Dragon Ball crossover hasn’t been made official, there’s no shortage of signs for a possible crossover. We’re excited, are you?

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #55 is available at stores, and Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #57 will hit the stores in Nov.
