Brad’s best is from the rival: DC Comics

In a podcast, Episode #167 of The Escape Pod (32:25-33:48), a few weeks back, Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Marvel TV and Animation, shocked Marvel fans. Brad was asked whether Spider-Man ranks as the greatest superhero of all time, and he did the unthinkable.

Brad picked DC’s Gotham vigilante, Batman, over Marvel’s very own friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Brad disagrees that Spidey ranks as the best superhero ever and chose Batman over the webslinger in his personal ranking.

Brad Winderbaum stated, “He’s the GOAT. Spider-Man is a close second,” albeit he highlighted their remarkable rogues’ gallery. Apart from this, Brad pointed out Batman’s humanity as a key preference by further stating, “Batman is a human being, so he has like the aspirational edge a little bit.” Batman’s lack of superpowers heightened the chances and gave him his uniqueness.

Brad further praised the storytelling elements, which played a bigger role than those of other superheroes. He revealed that “My favorite Batman stories are the ones where the villain takes center stage.” Brad detailed Batman as “the existential threat to their journey,” further admitting it was “a cool story mechanic.”

Further, Brad also praised the Absolute Batman take on the Dark Knight lore, and even Alfred’s take as an intriguing one.
