Solo Leveling’s speedy pacing is what makes it different
Solo Leveling rose to fame almost instantaneously after its debut on Jan 7, 2024, and now its end seems to be drawing near.
Yup, Solo Leveling Season 03 is shaping up to be the anime’s final and most intense arc, wrapping up Sung Jinwoo’s rise to a near‑godlike figure from the world’s weakest hunter.
Looking at the possibility of the rumored Solo Leveling movie, it can adapt a big chunk of material that sits between Season 02 and Season 03, leaving just enough of the original manhwa for one final season. Many consider Solo Leveling Season 03 the last full chapter of Sung Jinwoo’s Shadow Monarch arc.
Based on Chugong’s web novel, later adapted into a webtoon, Solo Leveling revolves around Sung Jinwoo, a weak hunter who gains access to a mysterious system allowing him to grow stronger through deadly battles and dungeon raids. Jinwoo’s rise from a petty underdog to a god-like being became the spectacle of the show.
The anime’s pacing has been consistent over Seasons 1 and 2, with every 23‑minute episode being an adaptation of roughly 4 manhwa chapters. A similar rhythm could build up a good 90–120‑minute movie with 4–6 episodes, of about 16–24 manhwa chapters.
The upcoming movie is expected to cover three major arcs: the Recruitment Arc, the Ahjin Guild Arc, and the Double Dungeon Arc—amounting to roughly 21 chapters, from Chapter 110 to 131—long enough to have a proper cinematic bridge, but at the same time, short enough to leave the final battle open for Season 03, i.e., Chapters 132–179.
As for the 21‑chapter epilogue, the anime could either stitch it into a closing movie or OVA or spread it across a few extra episodes at Season 03’s tail, as most of these chapters are lighter, or more of a standalone.
There’re anime that have followed this ‘Movie-Final Season’ bridge approach as the endgame pattern successfully:
- Attack on Titan – final season chopped into parts, with big episodes essentially functioning like movie‑sized events.
- Demon Slayer – major arcs (Mugen Train, Swordsmith Village) as movies or movie‑length specials projecting into seasons.

In short, the movie is the pacing key to let the anime run the full manhwa course in a smooth, subtle manner.
Season 03 could be the end of the series, but not the franchise. Solo Leveling’s sequel manhwa, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, could be continued with an anime adaptation. It will tell the tale of Sung Suho, son of Sung Jinwoo. There’re possibilities that the IP could continue.
Currently, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok is on hiatus as the series’ illustrator gotta leave for military service. The manhwa will return with a new artist and hopes to have it equally, or more exciting in terms of material, for a great sequel.
