Spider-Noir will be out before Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Okay, this year it seems, it’s the year of the spider, or is there even such a year? Well, it doesn’t, but this sure looks like the year of the spider. And to make matters more exciting, we’ll have Nicholas Cage play the web-slinger.

Nicolas Cage is known for playing Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, in Mark Steven Johnson’s ’07 Marvel movie Ghost Rider. He also played a cameo as Superman in Andy Muschietti’s ’23 DC movie The Flash. Also, he has appeared as Spider-Noir in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Well, as we all knows, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from the MCU will be swinging by soon in July, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, dealing with the aftermath of Spider-Man: No Way Home, having everyone forget the identity of Spider-Man, and interacting with the Hulk, the Punisher, and more, and maybe…just maybe Jean Grey too may appear, marking a new chapter in Spidey/Peter Parker’s life.

But amidst all these talks, it’s been confirmed that another version of Spidey, too, will be swinging by shortly, and that too in live-action.

Yeah, not in the MCU, but in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) franchise. Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly/The Spider will officially swing by on Prime Video’s Spider-Noir on May 25, 2026. The series will be released in both black-and-white and color versions.

Spider-Noir will revolve around an older Marvel hero working as a private investigator in a 1930s, gritty New York City.

It will also feature characters such as Sandman, Silvermane, and Black Cat played by Jack Huston, Brendan Gleeson, and Li Jun Li, respectively. Also, having Ben Reilly, instead of Peter Parker, might be unexpected for some Spidey fans. But it will be a completely new experience compared to Marvel and Sony’s Spideys, so far.

Also, Spider-Noir will be set in the same shared universe as the Venom trilogy, Madame Web, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter.

Apart from this, Tom Holland’s Spidey might appear fighting Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) alongside Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) in Daredevil: Born Again Season 02, and then there’s the Avengers: Doomsday we’re all waiting for.

Spider-Noir releases on May 25, 2026.
