Synopsis:

It follows Jong Li, a monk chosen to wield a power ring and protect his land against a ruthless emperor, merging Green Lantern lore with Chinese mythology, dragon legends, and themes of selflessness. This is the tale of China’s last Dragon Lord, Earth’s first Green Lantern.

AWEsomeness:

The story and art are perfect, as they sync very well, creating the required friction for Green Lantern lore.

My Review:

One of the excellent Green Lantern tales, and a tale of China’s last Dragon Lord, Earth’s first Green Lantern, Jong Li. Yeah, not Alan Scott nor Hal Jordan. It had its depth and its originality. It seems to be obscure among some (in fact, many) GL fans. In this story, we’re transported to ancient China. We see how he deals with his new gift against the odds. It is subtly woven around Eastern mythology. The art is very striking, capturing the tones perfectly. This is considered a canon, or an alternative history, as some still consider this more as an Elseworlds tale, but whatever the case may be, it’s a great GL tale for your Pandora.

Rating: 5/5 stars.
