One of the biggest superhero titles is getting an animated adaptation, with one of its creators at the helm.
Yup, you read that right; Absolute Batman is gonna get animated.
DC’s Absolute Universe already has a large number of fans, and it continues to thrive and grow strong through 2026. Launched in late 2024 as a separate DC continuity, it has expanded with new ongoing titles, which is a strong sign of momentum.
Now, at the 2026 Annecy Animation Film Festival, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios revealed that Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s Absolute Batman comic book series is being adapted into an animated series, with Scott Snyder as the showrunner.
This is big news for fans of Absolute Universe, Absolute Batman. Scott Snyder’s involvement is the perfect ingredient.

The Absolute Batman is a reimagined alternate version of the Caped Crusader. This Bruce Wayne is a blue-collar civil engineer who patrols the city as the titular vigilante in a self-designed massive suit of armor. This Batman wasn’t raised in privilege; he owns no manor or estate, nor has a surplus of riches at his disposal, but in the middle of Crime Alley, with most of his friends now the classic villains.
Artist Nick Dragotta has actually been talking about wanting an animated adaptation of Absolute Batman for a while. Studio Trigger is now set to produce the series.
Along with it, Warner Bros. Animation is set to make Joker: Laugh Riot, an adult anime, from Sola Entertainment (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim), where Batman is dead, and an angry Joker takes it upon himself to solve the murder. Unintentionally causing Joker to fight crime, triggering the question of whether Joker can be evil without Batman.
And then comes, from C. H. Greenblatt (Chowder), a new Krypto, an animated series for kids. Here, Superman’s dog, Krypto, joins a criminal gang accidentally and ends up teaching them how to do their jobs while turning them good in the process.
The Warner Bros. Animation presentation had new concept art for season two of Creature Commandos, showcasing new team members, Nosferata, a rebuilt G.I. Robot, the mummy Khalis, and King Shark. A spin-off of My Adventures with Superman, My Adventures with Green Lantern, showcased a magical girl anime-style transformation sequence for its main character, Jessica Cruz.
On a note for the younger audience, DC Studios unveiled footage from Super Powers, a show set at a school for future heroes focusing on their training and improving their superpowers. There’s also Starfire, an origin story of the Teen Titans member, Princess Koriand’r from Tamaran.
And finally, we have Teen Titans Go! video package celebrating the show’s upcoming 500th episode in its 10th season, making it the longest-running animated series based on DC characters ever. The footage had Robin excitedly screaming about the achievement before getting into a fight with the Robin of 2003 Teen Titans.
