Supergirl: Being Super #1-4

Synopsis:
A reboot to the Supergirl origin, as she discovers her powers. And to make matters more complicated, there’s another Kryptonian in the town (not Superman)!
AWEsomeness:
The story is really action-packed. The beautiful artwork showcases the confusion, hardships, loss, loneliness, secrets, and beauty in the life of an adolescent girl from whom her whole world is ripped off. How she deals with her life on Earth is depicted in a very illustrious manner.

My Review:
This is a wonderful origin story, sad that this couldn’t be a canon but this was equally fascinating as the pre-flashpoint origin. This origin story has the thrill of an intriguing read. Well, in this 4-part origin tale, her spaceship crash lands in Midvale. An earthquake changes her life and also reveals that she’s not alone in the small town. I’ll recommend this graphic novel to every Supergirl fan out there. The writer—Mariko Tomaki along with the artist—Joëlle Jones, inker—Sandu Floren, Colorist—Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Letterer—Saida Temofonte, has created a beautiful book that tells the origin unlike any you’ll expect. This origin is non-canon, but really amazing.
The origin story of Supergirl is one of the most complicated ones in the entire DCU. The Supergirl, I fell in love with is the pre-flashpoint/post-crisis teenage cousin of Kal-el for whom the Trinity goes to war to Apokolips. Later when DCU was rebooted after the Flashpoint, a new origin story had Kara’s pod crash land in Siberia. Even before this reboot, and way before the flashpoint, there was another Supergirl (pre-crisis), who sacrificed her life in the ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ arc, but with a brief cameo in another DCU event, Convergence, along with the Flash (Barry Allen) and Parallax (Hal Jordan). Overall, this is a good read.
