New ending, and a big cameo that sets the stage for DCU’s next
DC Studios is making sure Supergirl hits the mark, pushing it through another round of test screenings ahead of its June 26, 2026, theatrical release. New details have surfaced!
A notable reworked ending featuring a significant Superman cameo.
Directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) and written by Ana Nogueira, the film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, with David Corenswet’s Superman originally penciled in for a few scenes. However, according to insiders on social media, Superman now appears in additional scenes throughout the film: a FaceTime moment with Kara and a physical appearance at the movie’s conclusion.

Milly is expected to reprise her role in Man of Tomorrow, which explains the expanded Superman presence in Supergirl, possibly laying the groundwork for Brainiac’s looming threat.
Milly’s performance has been widely praised. One of the main concerns is the decision to stray away from the vibrant nature of the comics, and the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills appears too generic compared to his comic counterpart in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Ana is the writer for the upcoming DCU Wonder Woman reboot, and Supergirl also stars Jason Momoa as Lobo, alongside Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Emily Beecham.
How this revised ending and Supes’ extended role will affect the film is yet to be seen, but DC Studios is clearly making moves ahead of its summer debut.
Supergirl releases on June 26.
