Synopsis:

Left 4 Dead: The Sacrifice is a digital comic book created by Dark Horse Comics based on the first-person shooter game, Left 4 Dead by Valve. It revolves around the original characters, Zoey, Louis, Francis, and Bill, pitting them against Infected (zombie) hordes and powerful infected ones during the infectious outbreak. It serves as a prequel to the Left 4 Dead 2 campaign The Passing.

AWEsomeness:

The comic forms a bridge between Left 4 Dead and its sequel. The art syncs with the storytelling showcasing the smooth fluidity in the story full of actions and death.

My Review:

Now, what can I say, Left 4 Dead and its sequel are two of the most interesting games I’ve played. The zombie apocalypse and the special zombies make the game exciting. So, when I learned of the comic, my joy knew no bounds. As it is available online, I could read it and loved it. I must get a hard copy someday. From Francis’ twisted sense of humor to the bothersome optimism of Louie to Bill with his fatherly figure to Zoey, the characters are molded perfectly adding depth to their interactions and personalities. This can be regarded as a wonderful origin story about the OG four odd survivors. Michael Oeming did a wonderful work of art keeping it from becoming static with his visual style in all four parts. The action is gory and volatile, and the book is rich throughout with Oeming’s super art illustrating the moments fantabously. This serves as a perfect conclusion for the original survivors’ run, albeit there were a few minor inconsistencies concerning the game preceding it (Not a big deal, I guess, so can be neglected).

The events from the end of Blood Harvest were revealed in The Sacrifice. Valve considers the comic to be canon including Bill’s demise a week after Blood Harvest as seen in The Passing.
