Synopsis:

Humanity is on the verge of discovering immortality. The avatar of Death is cast down to Earth to live a mortal life as Laila Starr. Now, Laila has to do everything to get her job back before it’s too late.

AWEsomeness:

A funny but equally thinkable concept that traverses the fine line of living and dying, with a sublime art of surrealism.

My review:

An enthralling and captivating story. Filled with dark humor, it subtly kept its rhythm. Used Hindu mythology in a very fun and sensitive way. The art gave a surrealistic presence, absorbing the reader more into the story. Its narrative was philosophical and poetic, as the main characters evolved. It wasn’t just about Laila (Death) or Darius, albeit it was about Death losing her job; it intertwined with the lives of many in a quaint manner. A wonderful take on an amazing concept. A remarkable book for the collection, indeed.
