Joe Henderson to serve as showrunner on the series

A crossover news is always exciting! Well, according to Deadline, we’re gonna see a Transformers and G.I. Joe adult animated crossover series, which is currently in development.

It is based on Robert Kirkman’s Energon Universe comic series with a take on a gritty, mature tone in the style of Invincible. The comics were published by Skybound Entertainment.

Robert Kirkman also created The Walking Dead and Invincible. Joe Henderson, the showrunner and writer for Lucifer, will do the same over here, too.

Robert, after acquiring the publishing rights to Hasbro’s major brands in 2021, later started building a connected universe where Transformers and G.I. Joe existed alongside his original series, Void Rivals.

With Skybound producing this in partnership with Hasbro Entertainment, this project is all set to bring the worlds of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals, combining the stories of classic 1980s franchises into one universe.

A crossover setup was teased even at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, where Noah gets recruited by a mysterious agent, revealing a connection to G.I. Joe. The idea of the crossover had been on everyone’s mind for a long time, but there was no update after that teaser and an announcement at Comic Con 2024.

Now, it’s a possibility coming true, and fans will be excited. Other than the too-good-to-be-true rumor, there’s no official confirmation.
