Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández joined forces with Image Comics and released The Old Guard comics, 16 issues in three volumes. A film adaptation was made in 2020, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and now, July is here, the sequel will be released soon.
The series follows a group of immortals, three men and two women, and their story. A fairytale of blood and bullets.
Yup, the sequel of the Charlize Theron starrer is hitting Netflix on July 2nd, directed by Victoria Mahoney. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding join Charlize, Kiki, Marwan, Luca, Matthias, and Chiwetel in this sequel.
The Old Guard received favorable reviews, bringing some new actions and stories into the midst of the superhero genre. The first movie’s portrayal of LGBT characters within the superhero genre was widely praised. In the past, Charlize had expressed her interest.
Victoria was the second-unit director for The Rise of Skywalker, has steered the sequel from a script credited to Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker.
In a statement about the sequel, Charlize said, “There’s something for everyone in this movie.”
The Old Guard 2 will be released on Netflix on July 2.
