Ryan also reveals what he hopes doesn’t happen to the character
We all saw Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Deadpool & Wolverine. This got his fans hoping to see more of him in the Multiverse Saga. As the wait goes on, Ryan drops a big hint on Deadpool 4, implying the direction his character will take in the MCU.
In the interview with Eliana Dockterman, Times Correspondent, Reynolds said nearly a year after Deadpool & Wolverine, he’s working on a new Deadpool project. Ryan claimed he is “…writing a little something right now… it’s an ensemble,” meaning that it could be a follow-up to Deadpool & Wolverine or something else.

Ryan also stated that he was okay with Deadpool in a supporting role in one of the upcoming MCU event films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, and the most anticipated X-Men reboot. Ryan was on board with the idea, but the Deadpool actor repeated his opinion of not wanting the Merc with a Mouth becoming an X-Man or an Avenger, as it would defeat the purpose of his character. “If [Deadpool] becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we’re at the end. That’s wish fulfilment, and we can’t give him that,” he said.
Deadpool & Wolverine brought Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to the MCU in a cool way, and it also became the seventh-highest-grossing superhero film and the biggest-earning R-rated movie in history ($1.338 billion worldwide). The film also had some characters from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise, such as Sabretooth and Pyro. Additionally, it brought several pre-MCU heroes, including Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm/Human Torch. Also, Channing Tatum’s Gambit and Henry Cavill’s Wolverine variant, which Ryan nicknamed as “Cavillrine”.
Ryan doubts if Deadpool could lead another film, having played the main character. Despite Ryan’s doubts, Kevin Feige, Marvel president, claimed Deadpool was an important part of the MCU’s future.
Only time will tell if Reynolds will be in Doomsday and Secret Wars, not having been among the recent Doomsday casting reveals. Kevin had recently teased that more names ought to be confirmed soon.
Reynolds’ next includes the upcoming live-action animated road film, Animal Friends, and Jonathan Goldstein’s upcoming action pic, Mayday.
Deadpool & Wolverine is available on Disney+.

Ryan’s hesitation about Deadpool leading another film is understandable, but Kevin Feige’s confidence in the character’s future in the MCU is intriguing. Deadpool’s unique humor and breaking-the-fourth-wall style have always set him apart in the superhero genre. It’s exciting to think about how he’ll fit into the larger MCU narrative. I wonder if Ryan’s doubts stem from creative fatigue or concerns about the character’s evolution. Feige’s statement suggests big plans, but how will they balance Deadpool’s irreverence with the MCU’s tone? I’m curious if fans are ready for a more integrated Deadpool or if they prefer him in his standalone universe?
Hmm, let’s see
