Evolution is the Monster-USP of these Realms

In the time of great cartoons and anime, Cartoon Network presented us with some personal monsters to think of. Pokémon or Pocket Monsters and Digimon or Digital Monsters with almost the same or similar concept. Whatever be it, any monster from these monster realms can steal our hearts. Let’s take a look:

Pokémon was owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures, from an original concept by Game Freak’s founder, Satoshi Tajiri. This monster franchise was birthed in early 1996. The concept happens within a shared universe where humans co-exist with Pokémon, a massive variety of species born with powers beyond comparison.

Digimon began as a sequence of virtual pets by WiZ and Bandai in 1997, as a masculine counterpart to the female-oriented Tamagotchi pets. As per the concept, it focuses on creatures inhabiting digital verse that was created by Earth’s various communication networks.

Who doesn’t love a good power-up?

One of the most common features they have is ‘evolution’. The cute cuddly monsters can evolve into something powerful with terrifying features. And that was the enticing part of every story.

Everyone would love to see power-ups be it comic or manga, cartoons or anime, series or movies, video games or computer games, PlayStation or Xbox.

Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Beyblade, cardcaptors, KonoSuba, and most of the manga-oriented ones had power-ups. Why even Superman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and many more too had the power-ups or upgrades in a digital language?

But, the difference between both the shows was that Pokémon was an endless loop of the same old Ash fighting Team Rocket and his challenges at the gyms and the same story goes over and over and over. Digimon dealt with some serious themes like childhood trauma, death, problems of nuclear or non-nuclear families, and so on. And most of all, the children grew! A possibility that wasn’t explored with Ash in Pokémon, restraining him and his gang to a certain age while Digimon’s characters grew along with the viewers.

Power-ups are one the best USPs in the market and can never go out of fashion, no matter how cliché it appears; it’s always a feast for the eyes.
