Creature Commandos was the start, but Superman launched the DCU, and more at work!

With Superman, the DCU franchise is fully set. James Gunn, Co-CEO of DC Studios, and David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, have shared some amazing updates on the Dark Knight and the Amazonian Princess movies.

In an interview, some months back, with the NY Times, David praised James and DC Studios’ co-CEO, Peter Safran, for the opening success of Superman. And during this interview, David confirmed the news about Batman and Wonder Woman’s reboots.

Our biggest strategic opportunity was that DC was underdeveloped. Now we have Gunn and Safran firing with a 10-year plan. ‘Supergirl’ has already been shot. They’re working on Wonder Woman. They’re working on Batman.

James, in a separate interview, had hinted that The Brave and The Bold and Wonder Woman are still being written, and only after their completion, their filming will start, which means no specific time frame is shared. And in another earlier interview, when James was asked what the chances were for Wonder Woman’s long-lost paternal twin sister, Nubia, to have a storyline in DCU,  James had answered, “And, yeah, you might be happy in the not-too-distant future.”

Looking at the success Superman witnessed, the Batman and Wonder Woman movies, too, will take the same route.  Moreover, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is still there. DC Studios is giving the creative team the time they need before diving into casting. And to make matters more intriguing, there’s a cluster of DC movies and shows on the list, whose works are on.

Paradise Lost, a Wonder Woman prequel series, was announced for the DCU’s Chapter One, but a solo movie was missing from the slate. DC is fast-tracking the DCU Wonder Woman movie, saying that their plan is for the film to enter production as soon as the script is finished. And then there are also reports claiming that Warner Bros. Discovery is happy with Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II script. There’s a movie featuring Clayface, a Batman villain, to be set for 2026, and in 2027, with Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II, the DCU’s The Brave and the Bold movie could be out in 2028.
