The gigantic monsters make the crowd run for the tickets, but as we know there are many fans of anime and manga too. When one of the film designers revealed Pink Godzilla drew inspiration from none other than Dragon Ball’s, Saiyan protagonist, Goku, the excitement in the air increased by many folds.
Yeah, you read it right, Kakarot aka Goku, the saiyajin warrior on Earth is the reason or to be precise the motivation for the Pink Godzilla.
The Pink-y Business
It all started as aforementioned when a Veteran artist and creature designer, Jared Krichevsky tweeted in a fan Q&A regarding Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, in a deleted post, that the Kaio-Ken technique is the motivator behind Pink Godzilla. The appearance of the Pink Godzilla was already a social media trend among the fans, and knowing the variant power boosts in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, everyone was just curious. And when asked,
Krichevsky shared, “I didn’t see Goku Rose until years later. But I did base the transformation off of Kaio-Ken. Yeah, it was always supposed to be a temporary transformation. In the movie, he absorbs the DNA of Tiamat.”

Kaio-Ken In-Play
Kaio-Ken is a powerup the protagonist learned from King Kai before his battle with the evil Saiyan Prince, Vegeta, and his minion, Nappa. This technique boosted-up Goku’s power to an extent before Super Saiyanism was introduced. In Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, emotions played a big part in unlocking the Super Saiyan stage and beyond.
And Godzilla acquired a similar boost after consuming another titan, Tiamat for his battle with a nefarious titan, Skar King. But like Kaio-Ken, this was also a temporary boost as seen at the climax of the movie.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire along with the rest of the MonsterVerse flicks are available on Prime Video.
