John’s coming back despite being not on James Gunn’s DCU slate
With DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran announcing the reboot of the DCU movies, some faced unprecedented blows. But they made it clear, closing down Arrowverse and tagging the Joker and Batman flicks under the ‘Elseworlds’ banner.
But among them, nothing was said about Keanu Reeve’s Constantine sequel. But as per a report on Entertainment Weekly, the plans for Constantine 2 were still on and closer to becoming a reality. Francis Lawrence will be directing the sequel too.
Albeit, it not being a great success in 2005, when it was released, no one can forget the harsh exorcist played by Keanu Reeves. Even during a Reddit AMA a few years back, Keanu had mentioned speaking with James Gunn about reviving Constantine. And on the occasion of celebrating the release of Constantine’s 20th anniversary 4k UHD Blu-ray, Keanu told Inverse that, DC has given a green light to him and Francis to try.
Keanu Reeves has assured that it will be part of the first movie itself, and won’t be disrupting Gunn’s DCU. Heard it’s gonna be more torturous for Constantine. Now, let’s wait and see what the sequel has in store.
An upcoming movie, based on Keanu Reeves’ Brzrkr comic book series is hinted by Mattson Tomlin expressing excitement for the creative collaboration with Reeves and Netflix.
