Everyone is always excited about anything linked to the Caped Crusader. A series centered on Arkham Asylum based on DC’s Batman universe was rumored to arrive. But the sad news; it isn’t moving forward, giving rise to one conclusion: it’s canceled.

Set in Matt Reeve’s Robert Pattinson starrers The Batman universe, DC fans eagerly awaited for the TV series, Arkham Asylum at HBO Max. But, it seems they are to met with the sad news. As per the reports gathered, the show’s been canceled. Antonio Campos, executive producer and director was gonna run the show initially. It was said to have a haunted house theme.

We last heard that it is not fully dead, but the way things are going around, everyone was skeptical.

And as we feared, Arkham Asylum plan has been turned to rubble. Originally intended to focus on the officers in blue in GCPD, it evolved into kinda Arkham show. In his X. Joe Otterson, Varsity Reporter said, “To clarify, James Gunn said months ago that the Arkham Asylum show would be part of the DCU rather than Reeves’ world of The Batman. But there is now no Arkham show in active development at DC. They could always revisit later with a new writer but the original project that Max committed to in 2020 is dead. That was the Gotham PD show that Reeves said “kind of evolved” into an Arkham show. Anything developed now would be wholly new and separate from that.”

Arkham Asylum was introduced in Batman #258 (October 1974) as a super-prison designed to house supervillains with abilities.

So, as Otterson suggested, a new Arkham Asylum will be started from scratch if there ever is an Arkham Asylum. But, as this news hits us, we’re getting a spinoff starting on Sept 2024 on Max in which Pattinson’s Batman will have a cameo. And above all these, The Batman sequel is in development.

And, as Gunn admitted on X, Matt producing Arkham as a DCU series. Gunn also stated that Matt is being loved as a director and producer, and so he’ll be producing stories both within his The Batman universe and within the DCU.

So, now we wish they’ll Arkham Asylum in the pipeline. Arkham is one of the main components in a Batman story after Crime Alley.
