Comic series takes place before Nemesis becomes the ‘sword-wielding warrior’ we know in Rebel Moon

Yup, you read that right. Zack Snyder’s space opera, an equivalent or rather a dark cousin of Star Wars, Rebel Moon, is having another prequel set, rekindling the zing in its movie fans.

Yeah, after Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe, Titan Comics is now telling the story of the cyborg sword master played by Doona Bae, Nemesis in Rebel Moon: Nemesis. Award-winning writer Gail Simone and artist Federico Bertoni, will lead the series, as it tells the times before Nemesis became the sword-wielding, partly mechanical assassin. This’ll be a badass story in the style of a revenge western, as an innocent woman finds herself against the forces that slaughter her family.

“I feel like this story was a little bit destined to happen, somehow. My family and I were watching ‘Rebel Moon’ and really enjoying it, and I just immediately focused on Nemesis,” said Gail. “I loved the badassery of her, but also the way she addressed grief and recognized it in others. I just was completely smitten with her, and I actually said to my family: Man, I would love to write her someday. Well, someone was listening because I get this message that Zack would like to talk to me about writing that exact character. Who am I to argue with fate? She’s a powerful, powerful character, she leaps off the page (and screen), and I cannot even explain how much I enjoyed playing in this sandbox.”

Titan Comics editor Jake Devine had said, “Not only does it unwrap the enigma of her character, but it has some epic assassinations, beautiful locations, and badass showdowns. Working with Gail has been a dream, and I can’t wait for readers to immerse themselves in this extended universe that she’s created.”

Rebel Moon: Nemesis #1 is already out, and the TPB with all four issues’ll hit the stores on Feb 13, ‘26.
