DC K.O.: Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1 is a peek into a mistake of the past

DC’s New 52 was bold in intent, but the execution was flawed. The recent DC K.O. event brought one of the New 52 remnants back into the DCU canon.

DC K.O. is in full throttle as Superman revealed his ‘Superman Prime’ from the 853rd Century from DC: One Million form, against Captain Atom’s Monarch form, stemming from the original Armageddon 2001 event/idea. So, we can easily expect many more forgotten or originally stacked forms to reappear.

The big shocker or surprise came when the warrior from Paradise Island fought the Last Czarnian in DC K.O.: Wonder Woman vs. Lobo. When both are given opportunities to take on a new form in the 2nd round, Lobo brings forth the most infamous design.

The classic, cigar-smoking, beer-drinking, leather-jacketed space biker attitude Lobo is considered superior to the reimagined slimmer, sleeker, sexier ‘space assassin Lobo. In fact, for fans, the New 52 design never happened until now. None of the fans loved the new form then, which coerced the publishers into bringing back the ol’ main man, back in story.

DC K.O. effectively treats the New 52 Lobo as just one possible form, rather than a definitive replacement/imposter. And luckily, this doesn’t jeopardize the Lobo we all love.

And now, you’ll see Jason Momoa as the main man in DCU’s movie, Supergirl, coming out in June this year.
