Get ready to experience the Dark Knight unlike before!Β
DC unveiled details about its brand-new Batman comic book series, set to launch on September 3, 2025. Fans all over the globe have begun the countdown to see Eisner Award-winning writer Matt Fraction (Hawkeye, Supermanβs Pal Jimmy Olsen) joining forces with superstar artist Jorge JimΓ©nez (Batman, Summer of Superman Special), along with colorist Tomeu Morey and letterer Clayton Cowles, for a new and unforgettable era of the Dark Knight!
The upcoming Batman #1 marks the fourth renumbering in the iconic seriesβ 85-year history. This new take on Gotham City will introduce a new blue and gray costume, a new Batmobile, and new characters, along with the legendary heroes and villains.
Additionally, Batman #1 will feature variant covers, from some of the acclaimed artists in comics: Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri and Arif Prianto, J. Scott Campbell, Frank Quitely, Gabriele DellβOtto, Julian Totino Tedesco, Andy Kubert (1:25 incentive variant), and David Aja (1:50 incentive variant), along with a new Bat-Symbol variant cover and a blank sketch cover with the new Batman series logo.

A premium βDC Showcaseβ wraparound variant cover by Stanley βArtgermβ Lau will also be available.
Every issue will offer a new adventure with a unique challenge for the Caped Crusader. But they all will be interconnected at some point.
βI wouldnβt be here if it wasnβt for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read,β said Matt Fraction. βJorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman. Weβve got a new Batmobile, weβve got a new costume, weβve got new characters, and weβve got a lot of old ones tooβgood and bad; all the stuff that makes Batman the coolest character in comics. We want to celebrate it all.β
βFor this new chapter, weβre crafting a revamped aesthetic, bringing back Batmanβs blue suit in a definitive way. Itβs a small shift meant to feel both classic and fresh, subtly evolving while staying true to the original design weβve used in recent years,β said JimΓ©nez.
βAt the same time, Iβm working on Gotham Cityβs visual identity, giving it a fresh approach that sets it apart from my previous takes. Iβm aiming for a slight pop influence, something that subtly nods to classic stories while keeping the dark and ominous feel of contemporary Batman,β JimΓ©nez finished.
