After three decades, the 90s hero is back in an exciting manner!

Yeah, you read that right! Captain Planet is back! In a new look and all. The eco-hero is back.

A lot of 90s kids have fond memories of shows then. These shows had a pretty good message at their core. Captain Planet was one of the exciting shows in Power Zone on Cartoon Network. A Captain Planet movie is in talks, but in the meantime, Dynamite, along with writer David Pepose and artist Eman Casallos, released a Captain Planet reboot.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers, a maxi-limited series, was released by Marvel in Oct ’91. The show on CN ran for 2-3 years. This is the first time in the last three decades that Captain Planet has appeared in a comic.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers will have the 5 Planeteers hailing from various parts of the world. After being chosen by Gaia, the high priestess of Earth, these 5 youngsters wield rings with one of the Earth’s elemental forces, and together their powers are combined to summon Captain Planet to fight evil polluters.

David is putting his mind into the story and is tweaking the characters without losing their essence. This new Captain Planet and the Planeteers #1 is a fantastic way to give readers nostalgia while rewarding them with something new.
