Merc with a Mouth meets the Dark Knight, late ‘25!

In late Feb ’25, a DC-Marvel collaboration was announced, and since then, fans have been waiting with their eyes and ears open for any sign of that.

And now, EW has an update! An update that can rock the fandoms of both houses with excitement. Hmm, maybe not that much as the easter egg planted in Doomsday Clock #12, the thing about the secret crisis, but this sure is something marvelous.

So, what’s this on!?

Two one-shots are coming featuring the Merc with a Mouth and the Dark Knight. Yup, you read that right. The first collaboration, Deadpool/Batman, will kick off this September. It’ll be by Zeb Wells and Greg Capullo. And in December, another one-shot, Batman/Deadpool, by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora, will be out.

As per the official description of Deadpool/Batman: Wade Wilson is hired for a job in Gotham City that puts him in the crosshairs of the World’s Greatest Detective. Plus, “backup adventures” that features “exciting Marvel and DC character match-ups,” according to an official description.

It seems the Clown Prince might be the reason for the first crossover, somehow. Not sure, but it’s a well-known fact that Batman is someone who won’t put up with Deadpool’s antics like Wolverine. Nothing about the plot is known of the 2nd one, but as per Grant Morrison, one must expect 4th wall-busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter. It seems all four who are heading Deadpool/Batman and Batman/Deadpool find these as amazing projects.

What’s more…

If the comics are well-received, this collaboration can pave the way for a Batman/Deadpool flick. But for a movie, incorporating a big crossover, a solid plot is much needed. Albeit the idea is not greenlit, the comic can make a difference.

And that’s not all. DC and Marvel have confirmed that there will be more crossovers releasing in 2026.

No idea if these crossovers are canon or non-canon, but they’re indeed big news for fandoms of both the houses.
