The book pits the Dark Knight against a version of the Riddler
On October 21st, 2025, a few months back, John Jackson Miller’s Batman: Revolut?on hit the stores, with the ‘i’ stylized as ‘?’ symbolizing the Riddler in the story.
John Jackson Miller has unveiled ‘Batman: Revolut?on‘ as the novel sequel to Batman: Resurrection, set in the Burtonverse established by the original Batman (1989) and its follow-up, Batman Returns (1992). In addition, the comic series Batman ’89 and Batman ’89: Echoes continue the Burtonverse, existing as a parallel expansion rather than a single unified continuity.
In Resurrection, Batman encounters Clayface, while in Revolut?on, Batsy pits against the ’89 version of the Riddler (Norman Pinkus—a separate Riddler from the comics’ Edward Maynard). Burtonverse has two canonical Riddlers, each in different branches, but both are part of Burton-era continuations.

Riddler has appeared in other versions. Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever (1995), had Jim Carrey play Edward Nygma/The Riddler, while Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022) had Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler. In the series Gotham, Edward Nygma/The Riddler’s role was played by Cory Michael Smith.
Batman: Revolut?on, delves into the Riddler’s backstory, making the story for Ridd-le-matic.
Batman: Revolution is available at stores now.
